Welcome to Under A Tree Psychotherapy: Here I sit with individuals to find and empower their self-awareness, inner voice, authenticity, resilience, and connection.
Hi, I am Kirati (she/her), a Registered Psychotherapist exploring human experiences. I am dedicated to working with individuals and their different levels of consciousness, creating a space for authentic human connection.
My therapeutic approach is client-centered and trauma-informed, rooted in integrative psychodynamic psychotherapy. My work is guided by my interest in the inner child, biology, and human development. In sessions, we will be reflecting on your habitual ways of thinking and behaving, helping you learn more about how your mind works, and supporting you in embracing your true self—all to improve your functioning, relationship with others and strengthen connection to your self.
I am drawn to this work by my own journey of self-discovery. My therapist self is a medium for reflection, dedicated to assisting you in human embodiment- rediscovering, fostering, and encouraging you to embrace your true self. I believe in the inherent completeness, worthiness, and goodness within each of us. Hence, I focus on co-creating a safe and nurturing space through which you can feel empowered to expand your self-awareness, understand your responses, and rediscover your innate resilience.
The duration of your therapy journey is entirely within your control, shaped by your own objectives and therapeutic goals. Some individuals opt for short-term therapy to address specific challenges or transitions in their lives or relationships. Conversely, for others, psychotherapy serves as an opportunity for personal growth and heightened self-awareness, extending over a more extended period.
Typically, clients come in sessions on a weekly or biweekly basis. The frequency of sessions remains flexible, but consistency is essential for therapeutic growth.
As a Registered Psychotherapist, I hold memberships with CRPO and CAPT. My educational background includes a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology, and a Diploma in Psychotherapy (OPC).
I am in the field of psychology, alternating between studies and work for over 13 years. I have been practicing psychotherapy for the past three years.
Prior to commencing therapy, we will schedule a complimentary consultation. You can contact me via email or phone, or alternatively, you have the option to directly schedule a consultation through the 'Book an Appointment' tab. During the consultation, we will assess compatibility to ensure a good fit between us. If we both agree to proceed, we will then arrange for a session. The timeframe from your initial contact to the first session may vary, typically from 1 to 2 weeks.
As a Registered Psychotherapist, the costs of my services should be eligible for coverage either fully or partially through private health insurance or employer-sponsored benefit programs. However, please verify the coverage details with your insurance provider. Upon receiving your payment, you will receive a receipt that can be submitted to your insurance company for reimbursement.
This is a valid question, and to keep the pricing transparent, here is the breakdown of my fees: Operational costs: Approximately 25% of a client's payment covers operational costs. These include expenses like professional licensing, memberships, referral board registrations, and insurance, which are necessary but not directly related to clinical practice. Continuing education: Roughly 25% of a client's payment contributes to continuing education expenses. It is mandated by the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) to keep up with continuing education for professional development. This ensures the highest quality of care for my clients and helps me stay up-to-date with new research and practices. This also reflects my commitment to continuously improving my skills. Administration work: Approximately 10% of the fee is allocated to covering the time spent on administrative tasks and note-taking. Personal livelihood: Approximately 40% of the fee goes towards sustaining myself. This portion supports my basic needs and personal expenses.
For virtual sessions: If the session is canceled 48 hours before, no fee will be charged. If canceled between 48 and 24 hours before the session, a 50% fee will be charged. If canceled less than 24 hours before the session, the full fee will be charged.
For in-person sessions: If the session is canceled 72 hours before, no fee will be charged. If the session is canceled between 72 and 24 hours before the session, a 50% fee will be charged. If canceled less than 24 hours before the session, the full fee will be charged.
When you schedule an appointment, the time is reserved for you, which is why the cancellation policy is in effect.
Got questions or interested in a free consultation for either individual, couple or group therapy- I would love to hear from you!

We would like to begin by acknowledging the land on which we gather, and which the Region of Peel operates, is part of the Treaty Lands and Territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit. For thousands of years, Indigenous peoples inhabited and cared for this land, and continue to do so today. In particular we acknowledge the territory of the Anishinabek, Huron-Wendat, Haudenosaunee and Ojibway/Chippewa peoples; the land that is home to the Metis; and most recently, the territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation who are direct descendants of the Mississaugas of the Credit. We are grateful to have the opportunity to work on this land, and by doing so, give our respect to its first inhabitants.
